This Privacy Policy explains how Dormer ("the app," "we," "us") handles your data. We are an indie product. We do not run analytics, we do not sell data, and we keep your inspection records on your device. Read on for the details.
Data Stored on Your Device
The following lives on your iPhone and, for backup and sync, in your own private iCloud database (accessible only to your Apple ID — never to us):
- Inspection records, findings, notes, and severity ratings
- Photos you take or import for inspections
- Inspector profile (name, license number, contact info, signature, company branding)
- Comment library entries you save
This data is stored in your device's local database and the app's sandboxed file storage. It is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backups according to your iOS settings.
Data Sent to Third Parties
Anthropic (AI Provider)
When you use the AI Polish, AI Summary, or AI Client Summary features, the relevant inspection note text (and the category it belongs to) is sent through our backend proxy to Anthropic's Claude API for processing, then returned.
When Enhanced Photo Recognition is enabled (on by default; you can turn it off in Settings), inspection photos you capture in the AI Assistant are also sent through our proxy to Anthropic's Claude API, solely to identify the component shown (for example “water heater” or “electrical panel”). The identification is returned to your device and the photo is not stored by us. With Enhanced Photo Recognition off, photo recognition runs entirely on-device and photos are never transmitted.
Anthropic does not retain inputs for training and processes requests according to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Apple (Payments)
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment information. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
We use RevenueCat to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous device identifier and your subscription receipt from Apple. No personally identifying information is sent. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare (Backend Proxy)
Our backend proxy runs on Cloudflare Workers and forwards your AI requests to Anthropic. Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP address, timestamp) for abuse prevention.
Shared Report Links
When you choose Create Web Link for Client, the finished report (findings, photos, the PDF, and your company branding) is uploaded to our report-sharing service, hosted on Cloudflare, so your client can view it at a private link. This happens only when you explicitly create a link — reports are never uploaded automatically.
- Links are private and unguessable; they are not listed or indexed by search engines. Anyone you share the link with can open it.
- We record when a shared link is first opened so the app can show you that the report was viewed. No other visitor information is shown to you.
- You can unpublish a link at any time from the report screen, which permanently deletes the report, photos, and PDF from our servers.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not run analytics or telemetry inside the app
- We do not track your location
- We do not share or sell any data with advertisers
- We do not have an account system — your inspection data is tied to your device, not to a InspectFlow account
Permissions Used
- Camera — only when you take a photo for an inspection
- Microphone — only when you tap the dictation button to dictate notes
- Speech Recognition — to transcribe your dictation locally on-device when possible
- Photo Library — only when you choose a photo to import to an inspection
Children's Privacy
Dormer is a professional tool for adult home inspectors. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from children.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you control retention by managing it within the app. You can delete inspections, findings, or photos at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data (subject to your iCloud/iTunes backup settings).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" above. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
